| The trustees and staff of the Douglas County Museum want our area veterans to
always be remembered. This nation's veterans are the ones who sacrificed their lives or years from their
lives in order to protect our freedom. It is a tremendous privilege to be born into and to live in
freedom. That privilege would not be ours if not for our veterans. The Douglas County Museum's
Veterans Registry began in October of 2007. The registry is open to any past or present veteran of
Douglas, Coles, Moultrie, Piatt, Edgar, or Champaign county who at any given time lived in one of those
counties. Veterans and their families who wish to submit names and information to the Douglas County
Museum's Veterans Registry are encouraged to do so by filling out a form that asks for all sorts of
information, including name and birth date of veteran and detailed service information. Although it
doesn't ask it on the form, we would also like to know the name of the veteran's parents.
The veterans registry form in PDF form may be downloaded by clicking the link below, or the form can be
filled out online and submitted to Douglas County Museum volunteers by e-mail. Don't have all the
information that the form asks? That's okay. We don't want to leave out a single veteran, even if
all the information about him or her is not available. One more note: Pictures of your veteran are
welcome!
