The museum's general history reference books are located within four 4-shelf tiers numbered left to right
and alphabetized left to right. These books are American history, with the exception of books that
pertain to foreign countries in which World War II battles were fought (such as Nazi Germany) by American
servicemen and women. A great many of the military history books found in the Douglas County Museum's
General History book holdings are donations from the Howard Skidmore Collection.
